Hi everyone! So, as you are probably wondering from the title of this post, this is not going to be a history lesson on the Civil War. If you didn't know, though, the Civil War was war to end slavery in the U.S between the northern and southern states.

We are learning about the Civil war in both ELA and social studies. In social studies me and some of my friends decided to make a play about an enslaved family escaping to freedom on the underground railroad with the help of Harriet Tubman. Dale is director> We had auditions today at school, and I got the part that I wanted most! Her name is Juliet and she is the enslaved daughter who escapes. My friend Addie got my second choice as a part, Emma, who is the slave master's daughter. We decided that Emma is against slavery and she helps the family escape. We actually got the whole class to audition, so we are going to see if the other 4th grade classes can watch as well as the teachers. It has been really fun working on this play, we are probably going to perform it on the last day of school or something.

Dale, Addie and I also started a game where we are soldiers in the Civil War. Dale was in Luisiana, Addie was in Ohio and I was in Pennsylvania. It was really fun, considering we were on a zoom call the whole time. When I had to leave for violin lessons, we pretended that I had to go to battle.

Well, I think thats all about the Civil War, oh, also, I'm sorry that I missed the last few Sunday posts, I promise there will be one this week! Stay safe and stay strong!
